Is therapy right for me? Are we a good fit?
If you’re feeling unhappy, overwhelmed or frustrated with the way things are going in your life, or if you’d like to improve your relationships with family members, friends or colleagues, therapy can be extremely helpful.
I offer a safe, trusting space where together, we can explore the difficult feelings you may be experiencing that are leading to stress and feeling overwhelmed. I’m a good listener and I care deeply about helping people live more authentic, meaningful lives. We will work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you: to understand, to make changes and to accept what cannot be changed. It's a process that takes time and can make a huge difference in how you experience your life and your relationships.
Call or email me to schedule an appointment. I am currently accepting new patients and will get you in as soon as possible. We’ll meet and get a better feel for whether we are a good fit for each other. If it feels like a good fit and I believe I can help you reach your goals, we'll discuss what that would look like.
My Story and Professional Interests
Each of us has a story to tell based on where we've come from and where we hope to be. Things don't always turn out the way we imagine they will. We encounter loss, disappointment, lack of support and unexpected events, and it can be a struggle to incorporate these events into the “story” of who we are.
I started out in the field of education, working as a classroom teacher, tutoring children with learning differences and teaching "thinking skills" for test preparation classes. I went back to school later in life to get a graduate degree as a licensed clinical social worker. Being a "mature" student and doing this work has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
I provide therapy for a variety of issues that can get in the way of leading the life you wish to lead. I have a special interest in helping people adjust to life events and transitions such as school/college, marriage, parenting, divorce and mid-life. I care deeply about satisfying the need we all feel - to feel connected to others and to feel like we belong. I also have experience working with anxiety and depression as well as with more serious mental health problems such as eating disorders, ADHD, bipolar disorder, addictions and personality disorders.
I have a special interest in nurturing and repairing relationships in families. Whether it's parent-child, siblings or couples, I work to help people express themselves and be accepted for who they are. We all want to be seen and understood by the people we care about.
If you are at the point where you are seeking experienced professional support to change your personal relationships I believe I can help you. If you’re interested in addressing issues that matter to you, and if you are ready to engage in personal growth and want to live a more authentic, meaningful life, I’d love to guide and collaborate with you.
I welcome the opportunity to be of service to you or anyone you know who can benefit from therapeutic support.
